May the odds be ever in your favor | The Hunger Games Review

Aloha. Charlotte is back on track, bringing you one fresh book review.

So last week, I happened to have a reread of the whole The Hunger Games series and it was one hell of a reread. There was so much fun, thrill, and adventure altogether. UGH sweet series.

(LITTLE INTRO. I have actually read this series, like, more than two years ago. I was still 13 at the time and it was in e-book form. Then I read it again after a few months because, I don't know. I just refreshed my mind a bit because when I first read the series, I wasn’t that enthusiastic; maybe because I was still too young to get into the story deeply or I was just suffering a reading slump. Ugh. I just don’t know. Last year, I kinda missed the series so I bought a boxed set but still, I wasn’t that interested. I even regretted buying it, thinking it was a waste of money and whatnot because, maybe, my first impression of the series has destroyed my mindset. Until, September came and I told myself “Gawd I really should give justice to this best-selling series and read it again”, and reread I did. I finished the whole series in an entire week and the lasting impression of the series I once had that completely forbid me to see the beauty of this wonderful series, disappeared in the air.)

Sooooooo, for the review. (DISCLAIMER. This is the first review I made that I’m publishing online after almost three years of being a book-freak. So, I’m sorry if this review might suck for you. XD)

I honestly don't know what to say to make you guys believe that this book is totally brilliant as hell because as of the moment, even if I’ve already finished the series a few weeks ago, I'm still out of words. IT. WAS. SERIOUSLY. AWESOME.

But I’m still going to say one thing tho. If a book has an awesome and wonderful main character, then the whole story will be undoubtedly as spectacular as the MC. The main character brings with it the whole series. (Well, actually, the author does, because she’s the one writing through the MC’s perspective. XD)

(Although this may sound so cliche, I would still say it.)

I LOVE KATNISS. Katniss. Gawd. She is awesome.

Not is she only brave, but oh my gawd her thoughts. She’s so powerful and dynamic and I love how her mind and her heart effectively collaborate with each other.  Katniss Everdeen is probably the main character that connects with me most of all the main characters from books I’ve read.

Now let’s talk about this amazing author, Suzanne Collins. She writes very nicely. Nice isn’t even enough to describe it. Just insert the most superlative and best adjective to describe an awesome author/writer/mind-possessor.

Suzanne Collins' writing automatically transports you into the life of her main character. She writes Katniss’ thoughts as if it were meant to be yours. As if you were supposed to feel it, too, because, honestly, Katniss’ thoughts make you feel every single bit of emotion that she feels. That’s how sensible Suzanne Collins writes. Right to the bones! Right to the FEELS! Right to the deepest parts of you. Collins was the first to reach right through my deepest parts, to be honest.

Also, the thing that I truly loved about how Suzanne wrote this series was that she didn’t put too much romance in it. Unlike those other dystopian books that were only loved by the fans because of the romance plot. (cough—Shatter Me—cough) Of course, I’m not going to forget how very good Collins expands a philosophy. She puts philosophies in the books and expands them better than professors do. Her philosophies actually make a reader look around the world, have a reality check, and realize that what Collins talks about is true.

Honestly, you will never regret reading even a single word from this series. Just a single word and then the series will pull you in. Taking you with the flow, putting you in the world of Panem.

So if you want action, realistic romance, wonderfully-written plot, and politics, you should grab this series from your shelf and read them. SIMPLE AS THAT! It’s the best dystopian series I’ve read, I’m telling you. On the negative side though, this series will set very high standards that will probably lead you guys to hate other dystopian books that can’t exceed this series’ standards. But still, there are always new books and new stories to come. And we’ll wait for that.
